Dancing with Jesus
Psalm 45:11 “For your royal husband is enthralled by your beauty; honor Him for He is your Lord.”
So one day last week, when we were in Somerset East, I had an amazing experience with Jesus that I wanted to share with all the girls (if you are a guy reading this you may appreciate it, but it is mainly for the girls.) So every morning last week we had morning devotions as a large group and usually got about ten to fifteen minutes alone to spend with God before we started our next activity. Well this particular day I sat down to meet with God and as soon as I closed my eyes He said, “Meet me at the beach.” So, being the obedient lady I am, I went to the beach and looked for Jesus (in my mind.) I showed up at the beach and it was empty, but felt completely serene and majestic. I started looking around for Jesus and when I looked to my right I saw Him kneeling with His arms open wide waiting for me to run into His arms. Naturally I did just that. I took off and sprinted into my Father’s arms. I was struggling with feeling lonely lately, so it was just what I needed at the time. (Amazing how God knows exactly what we need when we need it.) So I am in His arms and I love every minute of it and of course the lady running devotions that morning comes on the microphone and says time is up. I was so angry at her because I just wanted to spend some time in my Father’s arms, but I obeyed and left Jesus to move on to the next activity.
As we planned for and went to our ministry later that day, I still had not forgotten about my wonderful meeting with Jesus that morning. That evening, like we did every night, we had worship, prayer, and reflection. I was complaining earlier to Mary about how I didn’t want to go to worship that night since it had become such a routine and was beginning to feel forced and not spontaneous and genuine. Well as usual, God had a much better plan for me than I did. I decided just to sit in my chair and pray when the first song was played. As I was praying I remembered that morning and decided I wanted to go back to the beach to see if Jesus was still there. Sure enough He was waiting just as He had been that morning. I was overjoyed and could not contain my excitement. I heard our worship leader go into a moment of prayer so I ran to my Savior’s feet and bowed down and prayed to Him as the leader spoke the words. When she was done praying she began the next song and the most breathtaking thing happened to me. Jesus gently put his fingers under my chin and lifted me up to my feet. Then we just started dancing…that’s right I said DANCING. I was dancing with Jesus on the beach, oh it was the most romantic thing I have ever done in my life. I could not believe how wonderful it felt to be captivated by my lover. When I had arrived that the beach that night I was wearing black pants and a hoodie, but when I glanced down to see what I looked like (while I was dancing), I had the most gorgeous gown on that I had ever laid eyes on. It fit me perfectly and flowed in the breeze every time Jesus twirled me around. My hair was down, long, and so beautiful. I felt like a stunning princess right out of a fairy tale, it was like a dream come true. It was as if I was as gorgeous as the bride described in Song of Songs:
“How beautiful are your sandaled feet, O queenly maiden. Your rounded thighs are like jewels, the work of a skilled craftsman. Your navel is as delicious as a goblet filled with wine. Your belly is lovely, like a heap of wheat set about with lilies. Your breasts are like twin fawns of a gazelle. Your neck is as stately as an ivory tower. Your eyes are like the sparkling pools in Heshbon by the gate of Bath-rabbim. Your nose is as fine as the tower of Lebanon overlooking Damascus. Your head is as majestic as Mount Caramel, and the sheen of your hair radiates royalty. A king is held captive in your queenly tresses. Oh, how delightful you are, my beloved; how pleasant for utter delight! You are tall and slim like a palm tree, and your breasts are like its clusters of dates.” – Song of Songs 7:1-7
“My lover is dark and dazzling, better than ten thousand others! His head is the finest gold, and his hair is wavy and black. His eyes are like doves beside brooks of water; they are set like jewels. His cheeks are like sweetly scented beds of spices. His lips are like perfumed lilies. His breath is like myrrh. His arms are like round bars of gold, set with chrysolite. His body is like bright ivory, aglow with sapphires. His legs are like pillars of marble set in sockets of the finest gold, strong as the cedars of Lebanon. None can rival him. His mouth is altogether sweet; he is lovely in every way. Such, O women of Jerusalem, is my lover, my friend.” – Song of Songs 5:10-16
