Thank You Grandma, for showing me how to laugh until I cry;

Thank You Grandma, for always being there to bandage me up
after, I returned home from yet another long adventure;

Thank You Grandma, for entertaining all my crazy “tea parties”
and just “playing house”;

Thank You Grandma, for teaching me how to cook your
mouth-watering recipes (even though yours was always better);

Thank You Grandma, for taking me to your strawberry patch to
pick beautiful, red, ripe strawberries.

Thank You Grandma, for showing me how to be a strong,
independent woman;

Thank You Grandma, for all the good night kisses you used to
give me right before I laid my head down to sleep;

Thank You Grandma, for taking me on the numerous shopping sprees
and teaching me how to spend Grandpa’s money;

Thank You Grandma, for all the deep and encouraging
conversations throughout the years;

Thank You Grandma, for coaching me on how to look completely
innocent, even though I wasn’t!

Thank You Grandma, for showing me the power of a genuine hug and
a few kind words;

Thank You Grandma, for loving Grandpa so dearly; because of that
I know that true love does exist;

Thank You Grandma, for showing me what it means to have pure joy
in my life;

Thank You Grandma, for telling me that it is alright to cry
uncontrollably when I am sad;

Thank You Grandma, for being a woman of Christ and challenging
me to be the same.

Grandma, now that you are gone, thank you for showing be how to
leave a legacy…

  2. Alyssa,

    I just wanted to let you know what a great poem you wrote about your Grandmother. It truly moved me while Amber read it at the funeral. I know you couldn’t be with us, but through your poem, your loving spirit was there.

    Aunt Wilma, Greg and I are so proud of you for what you are doing in Africa. We love you very much and we are praying for you.

    God Bless You.
